Skåne and Östra Göinge

Wanås is located in Östra Göinge, which is in the heart of Skåne's green northeastern corner. The area is dominated by beech forests and small-scale, nature and cultural experiences. Skåne is Sweden's southernmost province and region – a landscape of contrasts with close ties to the continent, and with both cities, vast plains, rolling fields of rape, a coastline of white sandy beaches, and also dense forests and steep cliffs. Skåne is an increasingly important region for natural and cultural assets and the tourism industry. Skåne is part of the Øresund region – one of Europe's metropolitan regions.
Östra Göinge and Region Skåne supports Wanås Konst/Wanås Foundation.

DISCOVER NORTHEAST SKÅNE – "THE GREEN SKÅNE"

Green Skåne is located on the historic border between Sweden and Denmark, which can be seen in the local culture and architecture. The recurring wars between Swede and Denmark and Snapphane Rebellion in the 1600s was a dramatic historical period. Among other things, the Swedes hanged insurgents who wanted to remain part of Denmark in the so-called Snapphane Oak that still stands in Wanås Park. Today Östra Göinge is known for its small villages, small-scale agriculture and forestry, and large undisturbed fields. Green Skåne offers adventure and outdoor experiences, but also a peaceful place for rest and relaxation. Small, genuine Bed & Breakfasts, farm stands, canoeing, historical walks, castles, beaches, forests, quarries, and meadows are just some of what this area offers. Only two hours from Copenhagen, Green Skåne is an exciting part of southern Sweden.
