Youth Project

The Wanås Youth Project is an annually reoccurring project that gives students from high schools in the region the opportunity to participate in courses at Wanås. The project has developed over the years and the students have worked with creating their own artistic work, including sculptures, installations, performances and video works. The purpose is to stimulate the students to engage in the artistic sphere. The framework of the Wanås Youth Project has been developed by Marie B. Liljenberg, former coordinator of programs and education, and has been taking place at Wanås since 1997. Since the start, projects have taken place in collaboration with Christian 4:s Gymnasium in Kristianstad, Falkenbergs gymnasieskola, Friaborgskolan in Simrishamn, Hässleholms Tekniska skola, Kulturskolan in Kungsbacka, Nicolaiskolan in Helsingborg, Sturegymnasiet in Halmstad and Österportskolan in Ystad. Each project is presented in an exhibition at Wanås from May until October.

In every project, established artists are involved as the students’ mentors. Artists that have worked with the project are Margaret Engdahl, Cristina Erman-Widerberg, Lisa Fjellman Minorsson, Dan Gärdenfors, Mette Hansen, Ronny Hansson, Ulf Holgersson, Lena Ignestam, David Krantz, Gunnar Krantz, Torbjörn Limé, Andreas Mangione, Kristina Matousch, Anna Nordquist Andersson, Anders Ottosson, Morgan Schagerberg, Ana Skute, Johan Svensson, Björn Wangen and Lena Willhammar.
