X-LARGE– SUPPORTING ACCESSIBILITY TO THE ARTS FOR PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND YOUNG PEOPLE
2013-2014 the Wanås Konst project X-LARGE focuses on creating accessibility for people with disabilities as well as making culture accessible for everyone regardless of prior knowledge. The focus is on how children and young people encounter art. The accessibility program is being developed in collaboration with its target groups and it includes the following programs: Konstprat [Talking Art] – an audio guide with the voices of participants in the project; Konstspecial [Art Special] – information, practical solutions, and better accessibility for visitors with special needs; and a commitment to Konstnärsmöte [Artist Meetings] – a workshop with an artist for children and young people. With special presentations, audio guides, and information for enhanced accessibility, X-LARGE is building long-term opportunities for many to enjoy and be inspired by into the future. This project is made possible by support from the PostkodLotteriets KulturStiftelse.
