The exhibition brings together some of today's top artists
The theme of “doubling” is inspired by the site’s different historical periods, the encounter between the present and the past, and the extant architecture with its symmetrically paired buildings. In the art gallery, some of Sweden’s most renowned contemporary artists, as well as international artists, will be shown. The exhibition will bring together artworks whose motifs, like a poetic fantasy, engage with the word’s range of meanings, from diptychs to artworks that explore notions such as double exposure, doppelgängers, and duplication – echoes, copies, and reflections. Artworks on loan will be joined by art made specifically for the exhibition in the art gallery. In addition some of the park’s permanent artworks have been woven into the exhibition.
Exhibition period: October 3 – November 1 2015.

The first exhibition catalogue, from 1987, is titled 25 sculptors in Wanås Castle’s park. Since then, the Wanås has grown into one of the world’s leading sculpture parks for contemporary art. Over 250 artists have exhibited, and there are 53 permanent artworks to discover in the park year-round. New exhibitions are presented annually, and artists create new artworks outdoors and in the art gallery. 60,000 visitors encounter art each year, and 6,000 children and youth actively engage through guided tours and workshops. Since 1995, the art program has been managed by the nonprofit Wanås Foundation.
