Wanås Youth Project 2008

At Your Own Risk

2008 year’s youth project examines performance as an art form by interacting with already existing works of art. Many of our visitors are captivated by the experience of physically accessing the works of art in the Park and it is interesting to examine how this action affects the experience of the sculptures. Is a new relationship to the artworks created? Do the site and the works of art affect you more intensely? As with the artist Janet Cardiff’s sound walks, where new stories of fiction or reality are layered over already existing environments, the high school students of the project add something to a permanent work of art. The art collection is activated and permanent artworks are rediscovered.

The project has been documented with photos and is presented through a series of stills at the Wanås Educational Exhibition Room during 2008. 22 students from the Christian 4:s Gymnasium and the Hässleholms Tekniska skola have worked in the project artistically mentored by Dan Gärdenfors who has developed the project framework with Marianne Bramsen. In addition, 13 students from the Hässleholms Tekniska skola have worked on documenting the project.
